As Im certain any regular visitor to my studio will acknowledge an ambition of mine is to witness the transformation of non-smoker into regular smoker. I enjoy the process of filming a non-smoking girl sampling cigarettes for the first time and capturing her reaction on video. By scanning my studio you could assert that my ambition is more than just a mild objective.
Sometimes the results are disappointing and the model clearly despises cigarettes! Her reaction declares that shell NEVER smoke again! But sometimes a model enjoys her first smoking experience and an unfeigned possibility exists that shell rapidly become a regular smoker. I was hoping Adel would be like that. She contacted me and conveyed her eagerness to try cigarettes for the first time, and thus this 2 part examination and extended interview is the result of this collaboration.
Like many girls 22 year old Adel was fascinated by smoking cigarettes, but alas like many girls she was deterred to ever try smoking because of the health warnings. Finally she relented and decided to try a few. These are a few of the more memorable quotes from our first meeting:

Question: Do you think smokings something you could get used to: I think unfortunately yes!
Ill try not to get too used to it but who cares?
Question: Youre more than welcome to keep the menthol cigarettes, would you be tempted to take them? I think so why not.
These are just small extracts from a clip that contains full on topic dialogue. But this documentary styled approach doesnt undermine the smoking. My objective in this shoot was to condition Adel; make her comfortable enough to enjoy cigarettes, initially at a slow pace and then encourage her to inhale just a little more deeply with each drag. Many smokers or non-smokers whove tried smoking detested their initial few cigarettes, so I wanted to ease Adel into the enjoyment that cigarettes can offer, while simultaneously avoiding any adverse side-effects. My objective was achieved! Small puffs developed into a few full inhales and delivered a mild light-headed feeling that Adel thought was pleasant. She never coughed or looked uncomfortable. She was born to smoke!
